A RECORD BREAKING YEAR FOR KELLOGG'S GAA CÚL CAMPS

82,000 children participated in Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps in 2012 – an increase of almost six per cent on 2011 – proving that the camps are one of the most popular summer camps, selected by Irish families.

Over 1,000 clubs throughout the country hosted Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps, during the summer of 2012, with the highest numbers participating in GAA strongholds like Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Kildare.  Counties like Meath, Westmeath and Longford also saw a huge surge in camp registrations with numbers up by 41% in Meath, 34% in Westmeath, 21% in Mayo, 20% in Longford and eight per cent in Donegal.

Commenting on the partnership, Aideen Murphy, Senior Brand Manager, Kellogg Company of Ireland said: “We are delighted with the news that the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps are proving that they are still one of the most popular camps chosen by families in Ireland. This is our first year on board as the new sponsor of the camps and to see a six per cent increase in numbers, in year one, is fantastic. It is also a tribute to the GAA personnel who organised the camps so efficiently at local and county level.

“We know that the Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps are excellent value for families and almost a quarter of families who took part in the camps this year availed of our €5 on-pack discount when booking their camp places. We know that children who take part in the camps have a great time while learning valuable new skills. Our research with parents also tells us that they (57%) really value the free kit and bag that children get when they register and we are delighted with this feedback.”

Jimmy O’Dwyer, Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps co-ordinator added: “2012 has been a huge success and despite a poor Irish summer we continue to see children from every corner, parish and GAA club in Ireland take part in the Cúl Camps. The Cúl Camps play an integral role in the coaching and participation of Gaelic Games and together with our partners Kellogg’s we aim to continue to grow and expand the Cúl Camps programme ensuring it remains the number 1 summer camp in Ireland for fun, value and participation.”

Over 300 children who took part Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps in 2012 gathered in Croke Park today as part of the Kellogg’s Cúl Dream Day Out.  300 winners and future GAA stars had a chance to play on the hallowed grounds of Croke Park and receive Gaelic Games skills training with some of their GAA heroes.
