Feeding Ireland’s Future: Kellogg’s and ECR Ireland team up to Feed Ireland’s Future
The Kellogg Company of Ireland has partnered with ECR Ireland to take part in Feeding Ireland’s Future, an initiative that provides free pre-employment training to young unemployed people in Ireland.
The initiative, developed with the support of ECR members and the Department of Social Protection, involves food and grocery companies as well as service providers throughout Ireland providing free pre-employment training to young unemployed people. The Department of Social Protection, through its Intreo services, partnered with the initiative and sourced people for each event.
As part of the Feeding Ireland’s Future, Kellogg’s welcomed 10 young graduates to their offices for two days during Skills for Work Week where they received valuable work experience during a tailored business workshop. The event was attended by Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton, T.D. and Jim McNeill, Managing Director of the Kellogg Company of Ireland where each participant was awarded a certificate of participation.
Speaking at the workshop, Jim McNeill said: “We are delighted to partner with the ECR Ireland and take part in Feeding Ireland’s Future. Through this initiative, ECR Ireland is working hard to educate people in our communities and enable them to hone their skills in relation to gaining employment. We would encourage other food companies in Ireland to consider supporting this worthy initiative.”
According to the live register, youth unemployment is at crisis levels with 15 per cent of young people (approximately 59,000) currently out of work.
