My name is Bwayo Nasimolo. I'm 11 years old and live in the Masaka district of Uganda. The ‘Gift of Trees’
my family received has helped me and my family in lots of ways.
The trees have given us food for our animals, wood for fencing, and firewood for cooking. They also help to
prevent soil erosion and care for the earth, because of this our crops have improved and we have more to eat
and to sell at the local market. I hope that more families will be able to receive the Gift of Trees
With a gift of a tree you can provide everything from fodder and fencing, to shelter and firewood, giving
African farmers a living gift to support them and their families. Help them to turn over a new leaf with the
gift of a tree.
To give the gift of trees, collect 4 tokens from special packs of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes. You can find 2 tokens
on packs of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes 500g and 4 tokens on 750g and 1kg.
Send your tokens to The ‘Kellogg’s Make a Life Shine’ offer, PO Box 1157, Crumlin, Dublin 12 along
with €5/£3.40 in the form of a cheque or postal order (DO NOT SEND CASH) made payable to Kellogg’s
with your name and address included on the reverse.
This will provide 10 saplings that will grow into 10 useful trees. Or to send a whole grove of 40 saplings, send
us 12 tokens with €20/£13.55.
All the money you contribute goes directly to Bóthar and better still, for every 10 donations Kellogg’s
will send an additional 10 trees.
The gift of a tree provides people with the means to help their own family tree grow and prosper. So to thank you
for your gift, we will send you a special tree certificate with your name on it, together with a family tree poster.
Bóthar is a charity that helps poor farmers in the developing world to help themselves through the gift of
livestock. Bóthar provides training and advice on farming their livestock and teaches them to rear the animals
so they can benefit from their produce.
For all of this to succeed however, the first step Bóthar takes is to plant fast-growing trees. These trees put
important nutrients back into the soil, serve as wind breakers and provide animal feed, fencing and firewood. In times
of drought, when animal feed is scarce the fodder from trees will keep livestock healthy. When the rains arrive, the
very same trees prevent soil erosion and floods, fixing nitrogen in the soil and supporting the cycle of life.
